Mindful Self-Compassion
Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC™) is an empirically-supported program that teaches skills to enhance our well-being. This class is for anyone who wants to cultivate greater compassion towards others, as self-compassion is the crux of offering compassion to the world. The skills of mindfulness and compassion are also essential for effective, sustained, and well caregiving professionals who must truly connect with their own experience to engage deeply in the commitment to integrity and caring. The focus of the class is practice, connection, and inquiry into how we act toward ourselves when we need ourselves most. Through the cultivation of a warm, connected, presence we can respond with greater care to the challenges of daily life and show up in the world with more balance and in accordance with our values. This class offers the space that we long for, to pause and tend to our experience. Activities include guided meditations, short talks on the topic of the week, journaling, experiential exercises, group discussions, and home practices each week. MSC™ is a certificate-bearing course.
Mindful Self-Compassion is an 8-9 week course, meeting once weekly for about two and a half to three hours. One half day four hour retreat session is also included in the course.

Mindfulness Based Eating Awareness Training
Mindfulness Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT) is a 12 session curriculum to develop skills and capacity for a new relationship to food and eating. MB-EAT incorporates guided meditations, short talks on the topic of the week, journaling, experiential exercises, group discussions, and home practices each week. We learn to be with our emotions with responsiveness and care, reclaim the fullness of our sense of taste, and practice body awareness of our hunger and our fullness. Our mainstream over-culture sends relentless confusing messages about health, eating, food, exercise, pleasure, indulgence, restriction, and body size. The way that these messages intersect with each of our life experiences can be overwhelming and harmful to our mental health. Through this harmful culture we can learn to eat in ways that are focused on managing the intensity of all these expectations, and become disconnected from our bodies, our experiences, and the joys of life. In our work together in this class, we will learn how to eat more intuitively, and make a space for ourselves that is beyond the rigidity of diet culture or a 'perfected' eating plan. I approach this material from a liberatory perspective. While each of us will come to the class with our own unique life path and desires, we will be welcomed into community where we are inherently worthy of love, pleasure, movement, and nutrition. All of you is welcome in this practice. This course can be a great companion to Mindful Self-Compassion to build our love for ourselves and our existence.
